McQuagge is an executive professional. He went to the Central University of Florida for a sales and marketing program. His career began in Allstate Insurance Firm. That was in 1983. He left the company to join Student Division of Insurance in 1995. Two years into the company, he was elevated to president. The UICU dropped its original to be called Health Markets following its purchase by equity investors. McQuagge led the company to make over $1 billion profit.
