Mr. Igor Cornelsen Has Come A Long Way

Mr. Cornelsen was born in Curitiba, Brazil on October 4th, 1947. He is a graduate of the University of Parana. He received a degree in Economics from that institution in 1970. Shortly after graduating he was employed by Multibanco, a Brazilian bank. He soon was transferred to Rio by his employer and given an opportunity to work as an investment banker.

In that new role, Igor began to develop an understanding of the financial markets. In 1974, After diligently applying himself to his responsibilities, the bank again recognized the young man’s talents. This time they made him a member of the board. Two years later he was made CEO at the age of 27.

In 1978 Multibanco was acquired by Bank of America. At that time Mr. Cornelsen chose to leave the bank. His first stop was one of the leading investment firms in Brazil, Unibanco. He remained there for eight years. Then in 1985, as the Brazilian economy was struggling with a period of hyperinflation, Igor Cornelsen decided to work for an international merchant bank, Libra Bank, Plc. That meant he would be paid in US Dollars, thus cushioning his income against the falling value of the Cruzeiro at that time.

Libra bank was a British financial institution. After becoming familiar with the culture of the British banking world, Mr. Cornelsen switched to another British Bank. This time a household name, Standard Chartered Bank. Not long afterward Mr. Cornelsen was named to the board of Standard Chartered Bank.

Following seven productive years with Standard Chartered Bank, Cornelsen decided to take the plunge and form an investment management firm of his own. Up to this day, he remains an active speculator in the financial markets. He attributes his success to his Reuters news feed and adhering to his investment ideas just as he always has.
