Dr. Walden Helps Pioneer the Field of Plastic Surgery for Women

Dr. Jennifer Walden is an honored plastic surgeon who graduated as salutatorian from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. From there, she went on to complete a fellowship of anesthetic surgery at the Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital. Distinguishing herself, she was able to build a successful practice in New York. In 2011, she returned to her hometown. In the process Dr. Walden also co-authored the book Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

People choose plastic surgery for a number of reasons. Some to correct damaged caused by an accident or a birth defect. Others choose plastic surgery to help boost their self-esteem. Unfortunately, the world still judges people based on their appearance. People also choose plastic surgery to turn back the hands of time and recapture a look of vitality and youthfulness.

Dr. Walden has practiced plastic surgery for more than eight years, and she choose to focus exclusively on surgeries that include face lifts, breast augmentations, eyelid lifts, and rhinoplasties. She also performs liposuctions for the arms, inner thighs, and procedures that are minimally invasive.

She thinks of herself as kind of a rarity, since there are few female doctors who perform cosmetic surgery. There are approximately 8,100 plastic surgeons. A little less than 10 percent of those are women. Of that number, only 180 women are members of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

She also feels that being a female plastic surgeon naturally comes with advantages. Greater than 90 percent of all surgeries are performed on women. It is also notable that many women feel a bit more comfortable consulting with a female doctor about their reasons for plastic surgery. His facebook page
