Doe Deere, unapologetically rebellious and unique, founded a line of cosmetics for those longing to have an aesthetic that stands out. This line of cosmetics is called Lime Crime and it is completely cruelty-free! In 2008, Doe Deere sought out to create cosmetics that were not only cruelty-free, but so unique that it would give the impression that unicorns actually exist. Lime Crime introduced Unicorn Lipsticks in 2009, a line of lip colors that range in many fantastic hues and a fabulous glimmering unicorn on the package. Ever since, the company had taken the internet by storm and soon after in 2012, Lime Crime released its liquid lipsticks, Velvetines. These Velvetine liquid lipsticks were such a hit that liquid lipsticks became all the rage.
Doe Deere was born in Russia and raised in New York City. She started very small, achieving success by her own means, so she is a supporter of women-owned businesses. She loves giving advice to aspiring entrepreneurs and always listens to feedback, whether fro fans or even haters because in her own words, “there’s always something to learn if you’re just willing to open up your ears and your mind.” It is with this line of thinking that lead Doe Deere to coming up with the idea for vividly colored cruelty-free cosmetics, thus coming up with the idea for Lime Crime Cosmetics.
Where did Doe Deere, the unicorn queen get the idea for Lime Crime Cosmetics? Well it started in 2004 when she registered for an account on eBay, naming it “limecrime”, which started as a DIY fashion line. Doe Deere modeled everything for her products and wanted makeup to match her colorful wardrobe. Finding such cosmetics to match her colorful personality proved to be difficult, so finally in 2008 she launched Lime Crime.
